FEBRUARY 2012
A surgical team and a prosthetics team were in Haiti the last week of February working at the clinic performing surgeries and giving patients their first steps on new legs. Patients received endoskelatal
prosthetic legs and will recieve the exoskeletal
components at a later date. We were amazed
by how quickly they were up and going without
any prior physical therapy. We give God the glory
and thanks for letting us be a part of helping change
their lives! Matthew 11:5 comes to mind as their
steps increasingly become more sturdy.
See for yourself!
CLINIC NEEDS
Wonderful and exciting things are happening at our clinic. So much so, we need assistance - anything
from equipment donation to training to expertise.
If you can offer assistance in any of the areas below, please contact us via email at info@MissionHaitiMedical.org
OPERATING SUITE
Our Operating rooms are in need of a new autoclave. An autoclave is an instrument used to sterilize equipment and supplies. We're thankfully accepting donations HERE.
PHYSICAL THERAPY
With our Prosthetics Lab up and running, a Physical Therapy area is now needed. We've started the process of getting funding and are looking for equipment and therapists who could train Haitians,as there are no PT schools in Haiti.
OPTICAL LAB
We are looking into creating a lab to fabricate
eyeglasses as well. This exciting new venture has gained quite a bit of momentum and interest from Dr.'s and benefactors. With this possible new addition to the clinic, we also hope to train Haitians to work
in the lab.
RADIOLOGY
We need portable x-ray units, casettes, developing tanks, etc. as we still use film in Haiti. If you have any residual supplies from switching to digital that need purging, we'd gladly take them off your hands.
